Ivica Osim to be honored by Japanese government

According to sources within the Japanese embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivica Osim will be awarded with Japan’s “Order of the Rising Sun,” medal, fourth class.  The honor will be bestowed upon Osim in December for his development of football in Japan, and for fostering positive relations between the two countries.

The popular “Svabo,” was manager of Japan’s national football team from 2006 to 2007 and coached the Japanese club JEF United from 2003 to 2006 in the top flight J.League. Osim was a very popular manager and public figure during his time in Japan, notably because of his comedic and insightful remarks regarding football and life in general.

In his home country, Ivica Osim remains as one of the most widely known and respected former football players and managers.
