When Riad Bajic (22) transferred to Konyaspor from Zeljeznicar for a mere 500,000 euros back in August of 2015, it wasn’t a big deal. After all, Bosnian players routinely went to Turkey, but very few panned out. Players like Edin Visca (who is also in tremendous form) were exceptions rather than the norm.
However, Bajic is breaking the stereotype as he continues to score goals for his new club. The tall forward netted his 7th of the season in a 1:1 draw against Osmanlispor. His compatriots, and also promising youngsters Deni Milosevic and Amir Hadziahmetovic also started the match.
Bajic is now leading the pack in Turkey, along with Abdou Traore who also has 7 goals in total. It remains to be seen how Bajic performs the rest of the way, but this could be a breakout year for the young forward. Bosnia and Herzegovina now has some significant depth at the forward position with Edin Dzeko, Vedad Ibisevic, Milan Djuric, and Armin Hodzic all crowding the striking stable along with Bajic.
